Giving Back to the OC…

March 31, 2010

Throughout our $70 million dollar renovation, we have have been able to make multiple donations of furniture, blankets, cribs and other items to different organizations around Orange County. You may recall in February, we donated 300 Blankets to Human Options, and yesterday we delivered blankets and cribs to two local organizations that were in need.

Canyon Acres Children & Family Services have been serving children throughout Southern California since 1980. They provide care and mental health services to over 300 children each day, and have opened their arms to abused and neglected children. Using professional expertise, love, and unlimited perseverance, Canyon Acres gives these children a future.

“The goal for all of ‘Canyon Acres’ programs is to help stabilize children mentally and emotionally, providing the possibility that one day they might move to a less-restrictive level of care. Ultimately, it is our goal to get all children into strengthened, permanent families – whether those families are biological families or adoptive families. Canyon Acres’ ability to move children into less and less restrictive environments as their functioning levels improve is seen as a model for agencies in the area. Canyon Acres provides real hope for kids – the hope for a permanent, loving family.”

Mercy House provides homeless prevention emergency services, transitional housing, and permanent housing, along with supportive services to homeless men, women, and children, living in Orange County. In the Winter months, Mercy House has an OC Cold Weather program in place, where they provide food, shelter, and services to the homeless. The blankets donated will provide warmth to those in need during these times.

Blankets for a Cause…

February 16, 2010

Throughout our $70 million dollar renovation, we have been able to donate furniture and other goods to local organizations throughout Southern California.

On Friday, February 12th, 300 blankets were donated to Human Options in Irvine, California. Human Options was founded in 1981 and their mission is to help battered women, their families and our community, break the cycle of domestic violence.

Human Options offers a variety of services including hotline, shelter, transitional housing and a community resource center. They served over 3,000 clients last year and continue to provide safety for women and their children. Human Options also engages in a very active education/prevention program. They spoke to over 22,000 youth last year alone.

On Friday, Darla Olson, Chief Development Officer for Human Options, picked up the 300 blankets at Hilton Anaheim. They will be used in the shelters and transitional housing. We are very excited that we are able to donate these blankets to such a remarkable organization.
