Thanksgiving Comes Early for a Motel Family and 160 Anaheim Boys and Girls Clubs Members Thanks to The Hilton Anaheim and Global Week of Service

The Hilton Anaheim team pulled out all the stops to celebrate the Global Week of Service this year. Wearing their Blue Energy gear, the team set out to show their local Boys & Girls Club that Hilton Anaheim cares deeply about its community and is committed to helping build the future of their city’s youth. Hilton Anaheim not only brought a dozen unopened games for kids ages 5-18 to enjoy when they’re at the Club, they also cooked dinner for over 160 club members and presented one very deserving family from the club with a very special gift. The Gomez family (Martin, Susana, Maria, Carlos Angel, Anthony and one on the way) has been living at a nearby motel due to financial hardship for the past 11 years.  On November 22nd, they will be treated to first class service when they check-into the hotel to relax and experience an exquisite Thanksgiving feast cooked by executive chef, Chef Kyung Carroll.

 

“We selected Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim because we believe in the Clubs’ mission to inspire and enable young people like those here today to realize their full potential,  despite the challenges they face,” said Shaun Robinson, general manager of Hilton Anaheim.  “Though times have been tough for the Gomez family, they have played an important part in helping the Clubs accomplish their mission.  We are delighted to honor them.”

Harold Rapoza, 2010 Golf Honoree

Hilton’s Rapoza Selected as Honoree of Business Links Golf Tournament

Those that have been involved in Anaheim’s business community are likely familiar with the name Harold Rapoza, general manager of Hilton Anaheim.

The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce will be recognizing Rapoza at the Business Links Golf Tournament on September 13 for his dedication and commitment to the community.

Rapoza has been the general manager of Hilton Anaheim for four of the seven years he has been there. Overall, he has 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

He currently is the Chairman of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau. Among many groups Rapoza is involved in, he currently sits on the board of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, the Anaheim/Orange County Hotel and Lodging Association, Community Center Authority, and the Ocean Institute.

The Business Links Golf Tournament is a great opportunity to meet Rapoza and thank him for his community service. MLB All-Star Summer 2010

Anaheim is gearing up for the 81st Major League All-Star Summer, which will take place July 9-13, 2010. This will be the third All-Star Game hosted by the City of Anaheim!
(1967, 1989, 2010)

There are a lot of events planned and some events could bring an excess of 50,000 people.

FanFest: Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest is an interactive baseball theme park and the largest baseball fan event in the world. The event will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, located adjacent to the Hilton Anaheim. The event will feature interactive exhibits, MLB clinics, seminars, autograph sessions, memorabilia and more. For more information or to purchase tickets for All-Star FanFest, visit the MLB Website.

All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run : Run like an All-Star and sign up for the 5K or 1 mile Fun Run. This is a fun, family-friendly event and walkers and runners are all welcome. Part of the course includes running around Angels field! Each participant will receive a commemorative All-Star medal and t-shirt. Jillian Michaels, host of  The Biggest Loser, will be at the finish line cheering you on. All money raised in this event will support cancer charities. XM All-Star Futures Game: The Futures Game is an annual exhibition between a team of top minor league prospects from the United States and a team from other parts of the world. Each roster contains 25 of the best minor league players. The Futures Game will be Game 1 of a Double Header for All Star Sunday.

Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game: This is an annual game that brings former Major-League All-Stars and celebrities together for an entertaining softball game! The softball game will be Game 2 of a Double Header for All Star Sunday.

Gatorade All-Star Workout Day and State Farm Home Run Derby: Watch four sluggers from the American League take on four sluggers from the National League in a home run derby at Angels Stadium!

MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show: The 6th annual MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show will give you the opportunity to see a parade of your favorite All-Star players, Coaches, and Hall of Famers, as they walk down the red carpet that will stretch 3/4 of a mile! The parade will begin on Convention Way (in front of our hotel) and end on Main Street in Disneyland!

81st Annual All-Star Game: Also known as the Midsummer Classic, watch the All-Stars of the American League take on the All-Stars of the National League in the 81st Annual All-Star Game at Angels Stadium!

If you plan on going to any of the events at Angel Stadium, please allow extra time to get there and know there will be a heightened security check point at point of entry. General parking at the stadium is $10 but parking will be limited. Overflow parking will be available at the Honda Center for each game.
