Pirates of the Caribbean – The quintessential Disneyland ride, Pirates of the Caribbean never gets old, never gets boring. Even if you’ve ridden it 147 times, as soon as your boat plunges down the second drop, you are transported to a hot, humid night in the tropics. Surrounded by scalawags and swashbucklers, you just have to sit back, relax, and take in the audio-animatronic magic.

Enchanted Tiki Room – You either love it or your hate it. I happen to love it. A lot. Step into the Tiki Room “lanai”, grab yourself a light, refreshing Dole Whip, and get ready to travel in time to a romanticized 1950s vision of tropical living in Polynesia. It’s like Trader Vic’s on steroids. You’ll leave with an enormous grin. Or you’ll hate the person that forced you to endure 10 minutes of singing birds and flowers. Hey, tiki love is not for everyone.

Splash Mountain – You can’t even buy the movie on which it is based, Song of the South, but that didn’t stop the Disney imagineers from building this tribute. Board a log (no pun intended) and embark on a journey whose story arc takes you from maternal caution to hedonism to horror.  After plunging down the waterfall into the briar patch, you’re certain to have found your Laughin’ Place.

Haunted Mansion – Everywhere you look, the magic is in the details, from the cleverly worded headstones in the front lawn to the decadent party scene in the main living room. It’s a delightfully dark feast for the senses, an exploration of the spookier corners of the world… and the human psyche. Just don’t mention the movie.

Space Mountain Who can resist careening through space in total darkness, certain death or dismemberment lurking around every curve? I certainly can’t. It’s pure exhilaration.

Ariel’s Grotto – The bar overlooking the lagoon at California Adventure. Adult beverages inside a Disney theme park. Need I say more?

Soarin’ Over California – Ah, California. Is there any place in the world that offers up as much natural beauty and diversity of geography, agriculture and recreation? Is there any other place that could have inspired the creation of Disneyland? Um, no. (Sorry, Walt Disney World.) So strap yourself in and soar over many of California’s world-famous landmarks. And breathe deep as you pass over the orange groves. That scent is more than just the power of suggestion.

Mad Tea Party – Spin, spin, spin until you’re green in the face on this classic Disney ride.

Jungle Cruise – The magic of the Jungle Cruise rests with its very “punny” guides who navigate your vessel through the treacherous waters of the Amazon river. Or is it the Nile? Or maybe it’s both. The jokes… (“We’ve now turned down the Nile River and if you don’t believe that you must be in denial.”) … they’re so bad, they’re good.

Big Thunder Mountain – “All aboard, cuz this here’s the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness!” Does it really get faster at night? Try it and see for yourself!

Of course, it must be mentioned that Hilton Anaheim is a Disney Good Neighbor hotel. We have a Disney Desk in our lobby offering multi-day tickets to the park. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the entrance to the park, or hop on Anaheim Resort Transit (ART).

Those are all great! My favorite is Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular, it’s amazing! IMHO it’s Disney’s best kept secret.

  2. Laney says:

The enchanted Tiki Room is certainly a nice place to sit and relax (with a Pineapple Whip) during a long day at Disneyland, but I wouldn’t call it a top 10 attraction. Alternatively, a visitor to Disneyland California should never miss out on the most classic ride, Its a Small World. The ride immediately takes its riders to a fantasy world and puts a smile on every passenger’s face.

  3. ReinaBee says:

Wooo hooo! I’m all about the Tea Cups, but only before I eat. Tiki Room. . .Trader Vic’s on Steroids. . .soooo TRUE! LOL! Also one of my fav’s.

  4. Andy Keown says:

Is Aladdin still there? I thought I heard they were going to start doing another show.

  5. Andy Keown says:

I’m surprised no one has called me out for omitting Tower of Terror from my list. But that’s because I HATE Tower of Terror… it freaks me out way too much :)
