Chef Carroll Introduces “Fruit of the Month” to Hilton Anaheim

October 24, 2011

We recently introduced our new Executive Chef, Kyung Soo Carroll to you and he’s bringing a whole new approach to our hotel’s kitchen! One of his new ideas is to feature a “Fruit of the Month”! This month, Chef is featuring the fruit Rambutans! Have you heard of it? Here is Chef’s thoughts on this month’s fruit!

Fruit of the Month

Note from the Chef

This month I am Featuring Rambutan

I was first introduced to this fruit  in my culinary travels and work in Bangkok Thailand. Rambutan’s, are an oval shaped 3–6 cm tropical fruit in the Sapindaceae (Evergreen tree) family . It is native to Southeast Asia. It is closely related to several other edible tropical fruits such as a lychee.

The leathery skin is reddish and covered with fleshy pliable spines, hence the name rambutan, derived from the Malay word rambut which means hairs. The fruit flesh is translucent with a sweet, mildly acidic flavor.

Great to eat while sipping a glass of Chardonnay!

Hilton Anaheim Receives Emergency Preparedeness Honor from City of Anaheim & FEMA

October 18, 2011

Our amazing team here at Hilton Anaheim recently were honored with diploma’s for completing Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)   training by Mayor, Tom Tait himself earlier this month at Anaheim’s City Hall! What’s CERT you ask? Well, it’s a program that prepares you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a disaster. During an incident, emergency service personnel may not be able to reach everyone right away. By getting trained in CERT, you will have the skills to help emergency responders save lives and protect property. As a member of a CERT team, you can respond to disasters, participate in drills and exercises, and take additional training. CERT teams are known and trusted resources to emergency responders and their communities. The coolest part of it all is the Hilton Anaheim has the most team members in the city that have graduated from the CERT program! Now you know that Hilton Anaheim is ready to help you under any circumstances!

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM HILTON ANAHEIM!!!

OC Forever Summer Artist Search Culminates with Big City Celebration!

October 11, 2011

Hilton Anaheim recently celebrated the end of the OC Forever Summer Artist Search with a huge soiree to unveil the art that now enhances the walls of our recently renovated pool area of our hotel.

After months of searching with the help of our friends at MUZEO for artists who conveyed the OC Forever Summer  theme through their renderings,  three incredibly talented artists were chosen and immediately got to work on what is today, one-of-a-kind works of art on the walls of our hotel pool area! A special thanks goes out to our friends at the Orange County Tourism Council for coming up with such a great tagline to represent our community.

The unveiling event was a huge success as the city of Anaheim came out in droves to support the hotel’s community involvement in the arts including Anaheim’s very own, Mayor Tom Tait who received a self portrait painted by one of the winners.

The event also featured a performance from Battle of The Dance which was the perfect compliment to a night dedicated to the Arts!

Come visit Hilton Anaheim and see these works of art for yourself!
